The Connection Between Retiring Early and Living Longer

This course aims to educate licensed therapists and healthcare professionals on the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of common injuries affecting the nerves of the upper extremity. The course will enable the clinician to problem solve through various injuries, assess movement patterns, and utilize various rehabilitation techniques to maximize function after injury/surgery. 

Target Audience: PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, ATCs

Instructional Level: Beginners

Instructional Methods: Hands-on lab, lecture with Q&A, group discussion, patient cases, evidence review. This is a live satellite course.

Course Completion Requirements: must attend the entire 2-day course and complete the post-course test

Course Rationale:

This course aims to educate licensed therapists and healthcare professionals on the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of common injuries affecting the nerves of the upper extremity. The course will enable the clinician to problem solve through various injuries, assess movement patterns, and utilize various rehabilitation techniques to maximize function after injury/surgery. 

  
Course Objectives:

At the completion of this course, the participants will be able to: Describe important neurological structures of the cervical spine and upper extremity. Identify signs and symptoms associated with neurological dysfunction in the upper extremity. Utilize provocative testing and identify presentation patterns to better evaluate said conditions. Apply clinical reasoning skills by assessing differential diagnoses. Understand differences in conservative treatment vs. postoperative treatment. Develop an evidenced-based comprehensive plan of care. Incorporate activity modifications with ADLs/ IADLs to better educate the target population to better understand their diagnosis and rehabilitation.
